News from shotahirama’s real brother kenhirama, about his new short films. “Two out of Tokyo” is a compilation of three short films based in Tokyo. In a city of over 13 million people living, the chance of finding someone who would give color to your life is slim. yet, we encounter these greetings in our daily lives. This film is about these significant encounters.

shotahiramaの実の弟、kenhiramaの新作ショートフィルム「Two out of Tokyo」が公開されました。まずはトレイラーをご覧下さい。
kenhiramaはアメリカ・ニューヨークに生まれカナダのカルガリーで育ち、現在は東京に拠点を置く映像作家。彼の作品には一貫して「自然環境」とそれに対峙もしくは共存を試みる人間社会の「日常」という２つの要素が含まれている。ショートフィルムというメディアを纏いながらも、シネマティックに描写される２項間の相互作用はまるでドキュメンタリーのように生々しくそして力強い。彼はこれまでにNHKフィルムフェスティバルへのノミネートをはじめ、カンヌライオンズではランナーアップ賞を受賞、アムステルダムのHuis Marseille美術館では蜷川実花や川内倫子らと共に作品展示を果たすなど精力的に活動を行っている。現在は実の兄であるサウンド・アーティストshotahiramaとのコラボレーション、ポーランドの音楽家pleqへの映像提供など、ショートフィルムだけに留まらずジャンルをクロスオーヴァーする制作にも取り組んでいる。

In a city of over 13 million people living, the chance of finding someone who would give color to your life is slim. yet, we encounter these greetings in our daily lives. This film is about these significant encounters.

kenhiramaはアメリカ・ニューヨークに生まれカナダのカルガリーで育ち、現在は東京に拠点を置く映像作家。彼の作品には一貫して「自然環境」とそれに対峙もしくは共存を試みる人間社会の「日常」という２つの要素が含まれている。ショートフィルムというメディアを纏いながらも、シネマティックに描写される２項間の相互作用はまるでドキュメンタリーのように生々しくそして力強い。彼はこれまでにNHKフィルムフェスティバルへのノミネートをはじめ、カンヌライオンズではランナーアップ賞を受賞、アムステルダムのHuis Marseille美術館では蜷川実花や川内倫子らと共に作品展示を果たすなど精力的に活動を行っている。現在は実の兄であるサウンド・アーティストshotahiramaとのコラボレーション、ポーランドの音楽家pleqへの映像提供など、ショートフィルムだけに留まらずジャンルをクロスオーヴァーする制作にも取り組んでいる。

「ノイズ、具体音が曲想的な音楽に」（Sound&Recording 11年5月号）「ドラスティックに引き裂かれる時間と空間」（音楽家 evala /port, ATAK）などと評され、大きな話題を呼んだ注目の若手新鋭音響家 shotahirama その彼自らが主宰するサウンドレーベル SIGNALDADA が3月2日金曜日、六本木 Super Deluxe にてレーベルナイトを急遽開催！

出演は anbb (alva noto & blixa bargeld)、mika vainio、Kangding Ray のオープニングアクトを勤める他、現在はカセットレーベル SLUDGE-TAPES を主宰し国内随一のテクノイズ・アーティストとして今最も注目を集める音楽家 miclodiet 。イギリス・ブライトンを拠点に活動しこれまでにドイツの老舗レーベル mille plateaux や、自身の別名義ではネットレーベル +Mus など次々と話題作をリリースする電子音楽家 Yu Miyashita。生物学を専攻し、オートポイエーシスの化学的実装という観点から紡ぎ出される電子音層がこれまでに無かったキャラクターとなるのか注目のサウンドサイエンティスト Itsuqi Doi。さらには、今やエレクトロニカなるフィールドをも飛び越え、国境を跨ぎ日本が世界に誇る新進気鋭の電子音楽家と称される Ametsub がDJとして参加。

有力な若手が台頭し混乱極める昨今のDIYシーン、shotahirama が尊敬し信頼を寄せる音楽家達による「音とその進化への情熱」を感じ取って欲しい。

アートレーベル mAtter のパブリケーションに携わり、自らも shotahirama 名義にて執筆や翻訳／英訳そしてサウンドクリエーション等、文学から音楽へとスリップストリームな活動を展開するニューヨーク出身の作家、平間翔太。2010年には音楽レーベルとして原盤の企画制作及び音楽出版他、公共施設へのサウンドデザインを提供する等の事業を展開するインディペンデント・レーベル SIGNALDADA を設立。

Jacob Kirkegaardは一種の限定された音響空間を用意し、そこで生じる非知覚的とも言えるごく微かな変化や極端に小さな事象を主な題材として扱う。文脈によってはそれまで解釈可能であった可聴範囲外にある「変化」というタームを様々な空間設定と装置によって実現／表現してきている。

新鋭音響家shotahiramaが大反響の東京公演に続き再び奇才evala (port, ATAK)を迎え開催するSAD VACATION KYOTO

shotahirama、自身初のCDアルバム「Sad Vacation」は全42曲20分という独特のコンセプトで作られたフィールド・レコーディング作品で、東京や香港、ロンドン、ニュー ヨークなど世界中の具体音が驚きの響きを創出している作品。本作の帯には、渋谷慶一郎とのユニット「ATAK Dance Hall」や山口YCAMにおける新作音響インスタレーション「void-inflection」など現在最も注目を集めるサウンド・アーティストで、shotahiramaが最も敬愛する音楽家でもある evalaのコメントが記載されている。

CDアルバム「Sad Vacation」発売を祝して9月に開催された東京公演では、スペシャルゲストとして登場したevalaが、shotahiramaの音源を解体し異次元の音像拡張を魅せる圧巻のパフォーマンスを披露。イベント終盤にはevalaを含む出演者全員による即興セッションも行われる等祝祭感に満ちたリリースイベントは大きな反響を呼んだ。

そして待望の再演となる第二回公演は京都クラブメトロにて12月11日日曜日に開催される。スペシャルゲストにはshotahiramaの熱烈な希望により再びevalaが登場。この日ここだけで限定公開されるスペシャルセットをはじめ、フィールド・レコーディング・マテリアルを最も現代的で革新的な響きへとアップデートする両者のパフォーマンスは絶対に見逃せない。

その他にもJIMMY EDGER (WARP)のリミックスヴァイナルや、自ら立ち上げたレーベル10 LABELにてR-NのANNE-JAMES CHATONらをコンパイルした１２インチをリリースしたユニットSTEVEN PORTERがライブ出演。さらには地元京都にて長年エレクトロニカと密接な関係を築いてきたイベントnight cruisingの主宰者TatsuyaがDJとして出演する。

「ノイズ、具体音が曲想的な音楽に」（Sound&Recording 11年5月号）「ドラスティックに引き裂かれる時間と空間」（音楽家 evala /port, ATAK）「失われた日常とその音響」（Art World Magazine 12年3月号）などと評されるニューヨーク出身の音楽家 shotahirama 。2010年に音楽レーベルとして原盤の企画制作及び音楽出版他、CDライナーノーツの翻訳／英訳執筆する等の事業を展開するインディペンデント・レーベル SIGNALDADA を設立。2011年3月には「エレメント同士の衝突」をテーマに、42曲20分という独特のエディットの中で壮大な音響ヴァリエーションを描いたCDアルバム Sad Vacation を発表。同作品のリリースツアーでは2011年9月に開催された東京公演を皮切りに京都、香港と世界各地で演奏が行われた。

翻訳家／通訳としては、これまでに2011年ドイツ・ビーレフェルトで劇場公開された古舘徹夫氏による演劇作品 Death Fragments - Buchner, 23 years old にて脚本英訳を担当、スイスで国内最高峰と呼ばれる芸術賞スイス・アートアワードを受賞したアーティスト Pe Lang の日本初展示にてインタビュアー／通訳として参加。2012年には東京都写真美術館が主宰する第4回恵比寿映像祭に出展された mAtter キュレーション展示 Between VISUAL and SPATIAL にインタビュアー／通訳として参加している。その他、幾つかのCD作品にてライナー、歌詞翻訳等も担当する。

English:
shotahirama is a Sound Artist from New York, US and currently live in Tokyo, Japan. Inspired by Modern Art, Dada, Bauhaus and Postmodern literature. Also known for the founding of the SIGNAL DADA. His musical focus is characterized by digital synth and field recording with computer software processing and improvisation, which generates a large palette of possible sounds including; grainy textures, complex patterns of smooth drones, and microscopic clicks and cuts. He is currently working under mAtter from early 2010.

shotahirama released his debut CDR album "Unhappy American Lost In Tokyo" in the Hong Kong in 2010, on Re-Records. And in 2011, shotahirama released his second CD album which is his first official CD album "Sad Vacation" on SIGNALDADA. This record was distributed by p*dis/inpartmaint, reviewed by Japanese music magazine Sound & Recordings, and commented by one of most famous sound artist in Japan, evala (port, ATAK). After the release of Sad Vacation, shotahirama toured around the world, featuring dates in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hong Kong staging with evala.
